Kathua Court sentences 10 yr imprisonment, fine to drug peddler

A local Court on Monday sentenced 10 years imprisonment and a fine to a drug peddler in NDPS Case.

Principal District and Session Judge Kathua with special power of Special Judge under NDPS Act M A Choudhary convicted Sudagar Mal alias Rodu of tehsil Hiranagar, district Kathua for 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 1 lakhs for possession of Cannabis for commercial use to be sold among the vulnerable section of the society.

As per the case, the drug peddler was arrested from Lakhanpur on August 8, 2016 from New Ravi Bridge Lakhanpur while he was found roaming on the bridge.

He was intercepted and during search, one-kg of Charas was recovered from his possession and he was taken into custody.

The accused was lodged in District Jail Kathua in pursuance to the Judgement passed by the Principal District and Session Judge Kathua with special power of Special Judge under NDPS Act.
