Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary Thursday chaired a joint meeting of officers of Rural Development, PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control departments to review the pace of progress on projects being executed under PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control sector in Kupwara district.
The meeting had a detailed discussion on various works undertaken under these sectors in the districts and got first hand appraisal of pace of progress on the projects, an official spokesperson said this evening.
Directing the concerned for taking up new schemes of public importance with the consultation of local public representatives, the Ministers stressed for timely completion of on-going schemes within available resources.
They also asked for early submission of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of new schemes under these sectors so that these could be submitted to the concerned quarter for funding.
The Ministers directed the concerned for identifying some works of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control and take up them under convergence on priority, saying that machinery and material component shall be provided by the concerned department and the labour component under MGNREGA.
They also directed them to exchange the lists of works executed by the departments to ensure transparency, besides conduct of joint field visits to ensure quality of assets created by the departments jointly.
The meeting was informed that 56 schemes, costing Rs. 18.50 crore, have been taken up under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in Kupwara district.
The work on 6 PHE schemes under District Sector and 9 schemes under Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP) is also going on in the district, the meeting was informed.
The meeting was informed that Detailed Project Reports of Rs. 3.5 crore stands formulated for revival of 37 old schemes in the district.
Giving details of schemes in Lolab Constituency, the meeting was informed that 18 schemes costing Rs 10.18 crore have been taken up under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP), of which 3 schemes at a cost of Rs 2 crore, namely Chintiwari, Hardering and Kothwari schemes would be completed by this fiscal.
The meeting informed that 2 water storage tanks at Baba Mugam and Doorsa are expected to be completed by the next fiscal.
The meeting further informed that Detailed Project Reports of Rs 45.85 crore for construction of 10 water storage tanks in district have also been submitted under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojna (PMKSY) for further approval and funding.
The meeting was informed that the work on 3 schemes have been taken up under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) and is expected to be completed by this fiscal, adding that 4 schemes costing Rs 38 crore have also been taken up under TAC last year.
Divulging Action Plan for construction of Deep Machine Drill hand pumps in State, the meeting was informed that 3980 hand pumps would be installed by spending Rs 127 crore during this fiscal.
