The Ummat-e-Islamia Jammu Kashmir’s incarcerated Chairperson, Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir, Thursday strongly condemned the sealing of the party leader Moulana Sarjan Barkati’s house by police in Kulgam.
While condemning the police action incarcerated Yasir said that all the speeches of Moulana Barkati are only “expression of truth and ironically government and its agents can’t digest the truth”.
According to the statement, Moulana’s house was raided a week earlier. “Everything from window panes to electric appliances were broken into pieces leaving his family shattered.”
Yasir said, “police are using subjugation tactics to kill the sentiment of freedom but it has been alive since more than a century and is more alive now than ever.” However, he reiterated that the “sentiment will remain alive till the dawn of Kashmir’s freedom”.
Pertinently, Moulana Barkati has been leading the protest rallies in South Kashmir, mainly in Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama districts.
He is popularly known as “Freedom Chacha” for his new form of sloganeering that has gone popular all over Kashmir, the statement said.
