In the on-going ceasefire violations along Line of Control, at least two Pakistan army rangers were killed on Thursday.
At least two Army men were killed as Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire over the LoC in “Azad” Jammu and Kashmir, dawn.com said quoting statement of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The exchange of fire began at 2:30 am, ISPR said, and continued till 8:00 am.
The reports said that fire and mortar shells were exchanged in Bhimber, Hotspring Kel and Lipa sectors.
The latest incident of cross-border firing comes as tensions simmer between Pakistan and India over the Kashmir issue, days after India accused Pakistan of involvement in the Uri army base attack in Kashmir ─ an allegation that Pakistan has rejected.
Here in Poonch and Rajouri, reports said that shells landed in several villages, however, no casualty was reported, so far.
Despite a 2003 border ceasefire agreement signed by both countries, cross-border firing along the working boundary is intermittent with both parties frequently accusing the other of breaching it.
