Several ambulances run by Voluntary organizations have been detained by J&K Police on Thursday morning.
Sources said that early this morning cops from Karan Nagar police station stopped several ambulances which catered to the rush of injured civilians in forces action since July 08, 2016.
These ambulances were mostly stationed and would run from SMHS Hospital Srinagar.
“Cops stopped our ambulances this morning when they were on way to SMHS Hospital,” said chief of a voluntary organization.
“Not only ambulances but some volunteers too have been arrested,” he said.
Quoting police, the chief volunteer said, “we were asked that we had sought no permission to run the emergency services.”
The ambulances which have been detained and lodged in Shaheed Gunj Police station belong to SRO Batamaloo, Athrout, Moomin Welfare Trust and some other organizations.
SHO Shaheed Gunj told Kashmir Life that he had no information about the detained ambulances. “There are space constraints in police station Karan Nagar so they (cops concerned) have shifted the detained ambulances in the premises of our police station.”
The heads of these voluntary organizations are meeting SSP Srinagar in this regard. When contacted SSP Srinagar said, “I am busy and will speak later.”
