#Day84: Vaid visits Kupwara, Handwara; Takes Stock of Law & Order Situation

Stressing the need for close coordination among all security forces and agencies to maintain peace and order in the State, Special DG Coordination/ Law & Order, Dr S P Vaid said that “peace is imperative for eradicating miseries and problems of general public and social evils from society”.

Chairing meetings of Police, CFPF, Army and Civil officers at Kupwara and Handwara, Dr Vaid deliberated on various important issues relating to law and order situation in North Kashmir districts, an official spokesperson said Friday evening.

The meetings were attended by Special DG CRPF, S N Srivastav; GOC 28th Division, Maj Gen Harrinder Singh; IG (Ops) CRPF, Zulfikar Hassan and DIG NKR Baramulla, Uttam Chand.

Officers representing various security agencies briefed the meetings about the measures taken on different fronts to safeguard public properties and maintain internal order.

Addressing the meetings, Dr Vaid expressed satisfaction with regard to security management, despite continuing challenges on many fronts.

He stressed for achieving high level of convergence and observed that joint efforts of the security agencies would result in curbing the inimical elements and enable conducive atmosphere.

While reviewing law and order situation in the border areas and analysing issues relating to attempts of trouble makers to disturb day-to-day activities of the people, Dr Vaid called upon the officers for continued close coordination and ensure timely measures for the security of civil population in the districts.

He stressed the vital importance of restraint, while dealing with the situation and emphasised on use of minimum force.

Dr Vaid also interacted with the senior citizens at Kupwara and emphasised for police-public cooperation to keep peace and order maintained in the districts.

He listened to the problems of the people and gave on the spot instructions to redress their grievances.

The meetings were also attended by DC Kupwara, Rajiv Ranjan, SSP Kupwara, Shamsher Hussain, SP Sopore, Harmeet Singh, SP Handwara, Ghulam Jeelani Wani and other officers.
