Agniveer Recruitment Process Continues in Pattan

SRINAGAR: Recruitments under the Agniveer scheme are going on in Pattan garrison of north Kashmir and the process that started on September 17, is concluding on September 27, defence sources said. The response s said to be encouraging.

The recruitment rally for male candidates from all the 10 districts of Kashmir and two districts of Ladakh started on Saturday. The rally is being held at Haiderbeig (Pattan). Top civil administration and police officers joined the fag of the major event by the GOC rank officer.

The photographs uploaded by the Chinar Corps suggested the response t the rally was better on Sunday.

At various stations, the army is conducting pre-screening of Agniveer aspirants. One such camp was held at Panzgam (Kupwara). There, the job aspirants were trained on physical aspects, correcting their documentation and guiding n the written examination by conducting mock tests periodically.

Reports appearing in the media said that of the 82 aspirants who had registered 72 showed their interest and had undergone tests including 1600m race, chin pp, medical check-up and documentation. In the final list, 42 aspirants passed in running test and 23 cleared all the tests including medical check-ups and documentation after the month-long training.

In a related development, Chinar Corps said on September 20 that they are organising a fortnight-long rally training for girls in Kashmir for selection in the Corps of Military Police under the Agniveer scheme. “30 local girls have been shortlisted to undergo training camp from 19 Sep to 02 Oct 22 at Patahirri, Kupwara,” the Srinagar-based 15-Corps said in a tweet.

The total number of youth being recruited under Agniveer was not immediately known.

Another recruitment rally is being held at the Zorawar Stadium in Jammu’s Sunjawan military station from October 7 for candidates from Doda, Jammu, Kathua, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi, Samba and Udhampur districts.

Once selected, the Agniveers after the completion of four years can apply for enrolment in the permanent cadre. Around 25 per cent of applications will be accepted after factoring in merit and performance during service.
