Covid-19: In 24 Hours, Jammu and Kashmir Lost 40, As 3571 Fresh Cases Detected

SRINAGAR: The untamed Covid-19 disease has killed another 40 people in the last 24 hours taking the overall death toll in Jammu and Kashmir to 2370, officials’ sources said. In comparison to the last few days, the number of deaths and new cases is less by a whisker.

As many as 27 deaths took place in Jammu and 13 in Kashmir divisions, the information revealed by the government said.

Jammu town continues to top the list of the dead for yet another consecutive day. It lost 14 citizens in the last 24 hours. Srinagar, the other capital city lost seven residents.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost two residents in Pulwama, three in Kulgam, and one in Ganderbal.

Apart from 14 deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost five citizens in Samba district, three in Rajouri, two in Ramban, and one each in Udhampur, Reasi, and Doda.

The overall death toll in Jammu and Kashmir stands at 2370 including 1424 in the Kashmir division alone.

In the last 24 hours, 3571 Covid-19 positive were reported. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 1126 – perhaps one of the highest number in a day. Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 486 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 2421 cases against 1150 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 268 from Baramulla, 195 from Budgam, 99 from Pulwama, 122 from Kupwara, 222 from Anantnag, 71 from Bandipora, 68 from Ganderbal, 188 from Kulgam, and 62 from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 105, Rajouri 162, Doda 25, Kathua 120, Samba 115, Kishtwar 20, Poonch 45, Ramban 34, and Reasi 38.

Right now, Kashmir has 20731 active positive cases and Jammu has 11690.
