Army Hands Over Stray Cattle To Pak Army

SRINAGAR: At a time when LoC across J&K is witnessing peace amid fresh ceasefire pact between the two countries, animals too are reaping the peace dividends as the army Wednesday handed over six animals to Paksitani army at Chakan Da-Bagh point in Poonch districts, who had crossed over to this side of fence.

These animals were owned by a poor man from Pakistan administered Kashmir and had inadvertently entered this side after crossing LoC two days ago. Official sources told that the formal handover process took place at Chakan Da Bagh where officials of army from both Indian and Pakistani side took place and soldiers of Indian army handed over six buffaloes to Pakistani army which were then handed over to the poor owner of animals.

The officials said that four among these six buffaloes were milk animals and their owner is mainly dependent on these animals for his livelihood.

The officials told that these six animals entered Indian side of LoC and were taken into possession by Indian army after which formal contact was made with Pakistani army over a regular line and communication was made to Pakistani army to receive these animals and to hand over the same to their owner.
