SRINAGAR: Father of two minors has gone missing in south Kashmir’s Shopian district forcing his family to appeal for his safe return.
Majid Iqbal (30) son of Mohammad Iqbal Bhat, a resident of Nowpora, Imamsahib area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district left his house on 25 May and didn’t return so far.
Majid’s father, Muhammad Iqbal said that his son, a load carrier driver, left his home as usual for work but didn’t come back to his home.
“We tried to contact him but his phone was off following which his friends and relatives were contacted. But all efforts to trace him failed,” Iqbal told a local news agency Kashmir News Observer. After failing to get any clue about him, the family has lodged a missing report at concerned police station.
“We have urge police to search for our son,” said a visibly upset Iqbal. “My son was our lone bread earner and we don’t have any source of income. Besides that, he is father of a six-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter.”
Iqbal said that he along with other family members made a hand-folded request to militants and other organizations that if he is with anyone, “please allow him to reunite with his family on humanitarian grounds.” The family has also requested the general public to help them trace their son.
An official said that there is a possibility that Majid may have landed in some militant outfit but at this juncture “it would be premature to draw conclusions as investigations to trace him are still on.” (KNO)
