DC Anantnag Launches Vaccination Campaign, Appeals Eligible People To Get Vaccinated

SRINAGAR: Dr. Piyush Singla (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, launched the “Chalo Tika Lagwayen” (Let’s Get Vaccinated) Campaign at the DC office in Anantnag today. Dr. Mukhtar Shah, the Chief Medical Officer, and Dr. M.Y. Zagoo, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, were among those in attendance.

The campaign’s goal is to reach 100% Covid vaccination of the district’s target groups in the near future.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said the pace of vaccination has picked up appreciably during recent time. “We are trying to further increase the daily targets up to 13000 from the current 6000 doses”, he added.

He informed the administration and the health authorities of the district are taking proactive measures to address the increasing demand for vaccines.

Dr. Singla emphasised the importance of vaccination, stating that vaccination reduces the incidence of symptoms and, as a result, hospital admissions in vaccinated individuals.

The DC urged those who are eligible to get vaccinated, claiming that the vaccine is completely safe and provides significant protection against the virus. “This has been a product of one year of brainstorming research wherein top scientists of the country have worked hard and contributed their part”, he remarked.

Dr. Singla also warned of legal action against rumor-mongers who spread false information about the vaccine’s safety, and advised the general public not to listen to them.

The CMO informed the district has vaccinated 114000 (One Lac Fourteen Thousand) persons so far with more than 12000 (Twelve Thousand) persons having received the second dose of the vaccine as well. “Pertinently, not a single case of AEFI (Adverse Effects Following Immunization) has been reported anywhere from the district”, he added.

According to Dr. Shah, the district’s top doctor’s, top officials, elected public leaders, as well as senior citizens and eminent public figures, have all been vaccinated.

He also encouraged everyone over the age of 45 to get vaccinated for Covid-19 at their local vaccination center. (KNS)
