SRINAGAR: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today urged officers to review the progress of tourism projects under the Prime Minister’s Development Package, SWADESH, on a regular basis and fix any bottlenecks, if any, to ensure that the projects are completed on time.
He gave these instructions during a meeting held here to assess the speed and progress of the NPCC and NBCC-led “Mantalai-Sudhmahadev-Patnitop” and “Gulmarg-Baramulla-Kupwara-Leh” ventures, respectively.
Sarmad Hafeez, the Secretary of Tourism, gave a comprehensive presentation on the status of projects currently being implemented by the executing agencies.
Advisor directed the NPCC to work in double shifts on the Mantalai-Sudhmahadev-Patnitop project and finish it by May 31st.
He was informed by the NPCC that 12 of the project’s 22 components had been completed.
The Advisor directed the Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur to conduct a 10-day analysis of each aspect and track the projects’ speed and progress. In collaboration with the district administration, he also directed the NPCC to clear all the irregularities.
The Advisor also instructed the Director Tourism, Jammu, to visit all of the NPCC-administered sites for monitoring and evaluation.
Advisor was told that the majority of NBCC’s projects are progressing according to previously established schedules and are at various stages of completion. In addition, the concerned officers are pursuing the lagging projects with zeal to ensure that they are completed on time.
It was revealed that 10 of the 30 projects had already been completed, with the remaining 6 scheduled to be completed by June 2021.
Advisor directed that the projects in Drung, Mayheen, and Rafiabad be completed and handed over to the appropriate parties by the end of May 2021, while the projects in Babareshi, Handwara, and Khadimiyan be completed and handed over by the end of June 2021.
The advisor was also told that work on the Gulmarg convocation complex has been allocated and will be completed in about 12 months. (KNS)
