Covid-19 2nd Wave: Srinagar Administration Decides To Get 1300 Beds With Oxygen Ready In Three Days

SRINAGAR: To deal with the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases, the district administration in Srinagar has set up seven COVID Care Centers, each with a capacity of 1300 beds, to serve the district’s the patient population.

Officials told a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the rush of patients who are tested positive for COVID-19 has increased at the Valley hospitals especially within the Srinagar City.

They said that the number of COVID positive cases in Srinagar district has increased dramatically in recent days, necessitating the expansion of facilities to accommodate the increased patient footfall.

Officials said that a total of seven COVID Care Centers have been established at Kashmir University Zakura Campus, Hyderpora facility, NIT Srinagar, Indoor Stadium Haft Chinar Srinagar, Marriage Hall Sanatnagar, Haj House Bemina and IMPA Hostel MA Road.

They said that 324 beds will be available at the KU Zakura Campus, 300 at the Hyderpora facility, 294 at NIT Srinagar, 120 at the Indoor Stadium Haft Chinar Srinagar, 100 at the Marriage Hall Sanatnagar, 82 at the Haj House Bemina, and 80 at the IMPA Hostel MA Road.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Muhammad Aijaz Asad told KNO that in the next three days, the additional 1300 beds will be ready.

Syed Muhammad Hanief Balkhi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Srinagar, said in a statement that patients with moderate symptoms would be accommodated in the COVID-19 Care centres.

“Like previous year, many COVID-19 centres have been established again in Srinagar where oxygen facilities other than the beds will be made available,” he said, adding that the administration has geared up in this regard since morning and is ensuring that all the facilities including oxygen is made available at the Centers.
