SRINAGAR: Army’s Bomb Disposal Squads on Monday destroyed a mortar shell in Dardkote village of Uri town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district following information about the explosive substances in the area.
An official said on Sunday Pakistan army fired a number of mortar shells during in Rampur sector of Uri. The official said one of the shells landed in a Dardkote village but did not explode.
They said Army experts immediately rushed to the spot and destroyed the unexploded shell safely.
Earlier, an army spokesman in a statement said that the Pakistan army opened by small arms along LoC in Hajipeer sector in Uri town of Baramulla district on Sunday at 12:40 pm.
“The soldiers manning the fence also responded the fire strongly,” he had said.
According to locals some bullets from across the LoC hit the police station as several government offices and residential houses.

“Bullets hit the roof of the police station, damaging a water tank and water entered inside the police station,” they said.
Locals some animals were also injured during the cross LoC firing.
