Sarmad Hafeez lays foundation of amusement park, footbridge at Wathura

Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez today laid foundation stones for construction of public amusement park and footbridge for playground at Wathura Block of Chadoora during his visit to Budgam district as visiting officer under the second phase of ‘Back to Village’ (B2V2) programme which started from today on Monday.

District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganaie along with other senior officers was also present on the occasion.

On the first day of the B2V2 programme, as many as 87 Panchayat halqas of various Blocks in Budgam were covered.

Secretary YSS interacted with the locals, Panchayat members and other respectable citizens at Wathoora and listened to their demands and grievances.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary YSS assured the locals that all their genuine demands including the issue of establishment of Degree College at Wathura projected during the interaction shall be taken up with the concerned authorities.

Later, he also reviewed the progress of the works taken under the B2V phase-1 and emphasized on timely completion of all works.

Stating that special focus shall be given on all Panchayats, Secretary YSS laid stress on holding more awareness camps regarding the government flagship and centrally sponsored schemes. On the occasion, a seven-member bio-diversity committee was constituted.

On the occasion, DDC Budgam reviewed social security schemes and stressed on tapping the local strength and potential to boost economic activities in Wathura area under the programme.

Terming the B2V2 as an ambitious programme for the rural areas of the district, DDC said that Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) shall also be formulated as per the demands raised by local residents during the ongoing public outreach programme.

On the inaugural day, renowned local artisans performed a skit highlighting benefits of government welfare programmes including centrally sponsored schemes, while as visiting authorities also distributed sports kits among youth.
