Srinagar
Secretary Higher Education Talat Parvez Sunday said classes in colleges would resume from next week.
He said faculty and other staff are regularly attending their duties and in several colleges classes are also being held. “Wherever students are coming to the colleges, their classes are being held.”
“However, in some cases class work has not resumed yet as students are not appearing. But from next week, we are hopeful that class work will resume fully in every educational institute,” he said.
Reports said, class work in most of the colleges across Kashmir has not resumed yet.
Sources said authorities were apprehensive that if students start coming to colleges and universities regularly, there is every possibility of protests erupting in these institutions.
“Keeping April 2017 incident into mind when student unrest erupted from educational institutions, the government doesn’t want to take any risk this time. With winter vacations round the corner, there is every possibility that the class work in schools, colleges and universities will resume fully only in March,” they said. (KNS)
