Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan on Saturday complimented the private educational institutions for imparting quality education in Jammu and Kashmir. The Advisor was addressing students and staff at the 21st annual Day of KC Public School here at Jammu University’s General Zorawar Singh Auditorium.
Advisor Khan complimented the school management for its best efforts in enabling the holistic department of children and appreciated the talent of children exhibited through their performances in a cultural programme presented during the function.
The Guests of Honour at the function were former Home Secretary, Government of India, Anil Goswami; former Home Secretary, Govt of J&K, Parvez Dewan; ex ADGP of J&K Police, S S Wazir and Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof. Manoj K Dhar. The function was attended by the school children and parents among others.
The principal of the school, Amarendra Mishra delivered a welcome address followed by the presentation of the annual report.
On the occasion, Advisor Khan also presented awards to meritorious students and mementoes to KCPS alumni who have carved out distinguished careers in different fields such as administration, medicine, engineering, commerce and industry etc.
Chairman KCPS, Raju Chowdhary also spoke on the occasion and outlined the school’s mission of achieving excellence in education.
The concluding item of the function was a dance-drama ‘Andha Yug’ in Hindi presented by the students of senior school. The play written by Dharamvir Bharati in 1954 depicted the predicament of parents of Kauravas on the 18th day of the Mahabharat War and brings out the degradation of human values in the context of 1947 Partition of India.
