Top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander Bashir Lashkari was Sunday buried amid emotionally charged atmosphere in his ancestral village Soafshali in Kokernag area of district Islamabad.

People in large number marched towards Soafshali village in south Kashmir to participate in the funeral of slain Lashkari who was killed in a day long gun battle in Brenti-Batpora in Dialgam village of Islamabad district along with his other associate.

Locals said multiple funerals were offered to the slain militant.

Lashkari joined LeT on October 2, 2015. Categorised as an A++ militant, Lashkari was the outfit’s commander in south Kashmir district and carried a bounty of Rs 10 lakh.

According to police he was involved in an attack which led to the death of six policemen on June 17 including An SHO Feroz Ahmad Dar.
In a gunfight, two civilians, Tahira and Shadab were also killed in the area. Many more were reported to receive injuries when the locals tried to break the cordon and help militants to flee.

Police termed killing of Lashkari as major success, besides “revenge” of SHO Feroz’s killing and termed it as a “Justice delivered.”

Even State’s Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh tweeted “our brave armed forces have avenged the death of SHO Feroze Dar.”
