Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday expressed “grave concern” over the “state sponsored barbarism and tyranny” against the civilians here and impressed upon forthwith unconditional release of all political prisoners and detainees.
A statement issued by JeI this afternoon read, “It further appeals the international and Indian human rights bodies and intellectuals to visit the valley and observe the worst conditions prevailing over here and use their good offices to stop this state terrorism. Jama’at also appeals the local high court to take suo-moto notice and issue necessary directions to the administration for protection of human lives and public properties in the similar way it took suo-moto notice of the school burning issue as the protection of human life is much more important than that of the school buildings.”
Coming down heavily on the state government, Jamaat-e-Islami Tuesday said that a group of people holding the throne have given a license to the Indian forces and police to arrest the youth indiscriminately, to cause damage to the public properties on a large scale and to use unbridled force against the unarmed civilians.
In a statement issued here, JeI said that as per the reports ten thousand Kashmiris have been detained under various “black laws” and lodged in different police stations, interrogation centers and jails in and outside the valley and hundreds of the civilian population areas have been devastated throughout Kashmir.
“In addition to it, the detained youth are being kept in the police lock-ups for days together in a very humiliating condition without producing them before the courts or any legal authority which is mandatory under law. But to justify their detention, the extension orders of their arrests are procured from the Magistrates having insufficient legal knowledge who even sitting in their own offices attends the police stations for signing these readymade orders.”
A JeI spokesperson asked, “Have those holding the reigns and pretending to be the sympathizers of Kashmiris, uttered a single word against the barbarities and vandalism committed by these Indian forces upon the hapless people here?”
The JeI statement said, “In Rohmu Pulwama, these very merciless personnel fired hundreds of bullets and pellets besides indiscriminate tear gas shelling upon the protesting villagers including men, women and children with the result the eyes of three innocent young girls were hit by pellets besides scores of others got injured.”
The statement added that similarly people in Moolu Chitragam Shopian were treated like animals by these “democratic and disciplined brave personnel”! “Have these inhuman actions shaken their conscience? The world is witnessing the inhuman brutalities being committed upon Kashmiri people for raising their voice against the state barbarism and atrocities and for demanding their birth right of self-determination but is mum!”
