Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Jammu Kashmir Monday condemned the arrest spree unleashed by state administration and said that these arbitrary arrests, intimidation and night raids won’t deter us from pursuing right to self-determination.

While commenting over the detention of its Tehsil president for Pahalgam, Imtiyaz Ahmad Sofi, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Raja Malik (Warpora), spokesman said that it is highly condemnable that its tehsil president for Pahalgam was declared as proclaimed offender by police.

In a statement, Tehreek-e-Huriyat said that all its office bearers and activists believe in peaceful struggle and there is no justification for declaring them as offenders. Commenting over the arrest of Imtiyaz Ahmad, Mashooq Ahmad Bhat (Rafiabad) Nazir Ahmad War, Mohd Ashraf War and Mohd Salem, and slapping PSA against these and lodging them outside state as unjustified and barbaric, spokesman called this a vengeance and uncalled.

Spokesman while commenting on arrest spree said that forces and their stooges are creating a sense of insecurity and harassment among general masses. While referring to the gloomy situation in state, spokesman said “people are herded into open fields, subjected to sever torture, checking their identity and on 1990 type people are subjected to intimidation, their belongings and houses searched ransacked and inmates harassed in these chilling and cold winter.”

Spokesman reiterated that all these arbitrary measures and highhandedness are making our youth furious and they are thinking other options to express their anger and denying the peaceful means may give rise to severe consequences, said spokesman. Blaming State administration for disturbing the peace in state, spokesman said that “when justice is denied then there is no option other than to show resentment against all these arbitrary measures.”

Spokesman while referring to state rulers, said they are acting as martial law administrators and thus chocking the genuine voices and while demanding release of all detainees, he impressed that ruling class should shun its despotic behavior as all these suppressive and callous measures won’t deter us from pursuing our mission.
