Road accidents killed three as two survive injured

SRINAGAR

Three persons died in different road accidents and two others survived injured, police said in a statement.

In Islamabad, police said, a Scooty driven by Majid Farooq Bhat resident of Sagam hit and injured a pedestrian namely Ghulam Nabi Rather son of Mohammad Ahsan Rather resident of Hiller at Hiller in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kokernag. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. After completion of medico legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.

In another accident, a vehicle (JK02S-2220) hit and injured a pedestrian Ghulam Mohammad Lone resident of K-Kalan near Forest Check Post Badroo in the jurisdiction of Police Station Srigufwara. The injured was shifted to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body  of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.

In Kupwara, a vehicle of Beacon authorities (CH0839) driven by Santosh Kumar hit and injured a pedestrian Khazir Mohammad Bhat son of Mohammad Ahsan resident of Kalaroos at Kalaroos. The injured was shifted to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body  of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. Kupwara police has registered a case in this regard.

In Handwara, a passenger bus (JK01E-3272) and a motorcycle (JK09A-2724) driven by  Athar Mushtaq Lone resident of Pandithpora met with an accident near DFO Office Langate, resulting in injuries to the motorcyclist and pillion mate Jehangir Ahmad Mir resident of Pandithpora. Both the injured were shifted to District Hospital Handwara for treatment.

Reports said that a young motor cyclist was hit by a Forest Corporation truck near PC Depot. The boy died instantly. The accident took place around 2 pm. The name of the slain boy was not immediately known. Police had taken cognizance of the case and seized the vehicle, witnesses said.
