A magistrate has extended the remand of detained employee leaders for five more days with the employees accusing the government of violating the human and employees’ rights.
Several employees’ leaders including Ajaz Ahmed Khan, Abdul Qayoom Wani, Fayaz Ahmed Shabnam, Farooq Ahmed Trali and others have been languishing in Kupwara and Baramulla jails.
The family members of Ajaz Ahmed Khan who heads Employees Joint Action Committee Kashmir told news agency CNS that Khan has been suffering from several ailments and he was supposed to get admitted in a hospital for check-up.
“He is not getting proper treatment in the Jail. The visitors are even being harassed and not allowed to meet him,” they said.
An employee leader wishing not to be named said that government wants employees to dance on their tunes but it should bear in mind that employees are the part of society and they have to face the people.
“The government is using all tactics to cow down the employees leaders but we will not be scared away by these tactics,” he said.
Pertinently, couple of employee leaders were arrested by the government after they criticized government action of sacking all but a dozen employees.
