Ten Days Mathematics Workshop Concludes at AS College

A Ten-Day workshop on Mathematics Training and Talent Search (MTTS) organized by Jammu and Kashmir Institute of Mathematical Sciences (JKIMS), Srinagar concluded here. JKIMS is situated in the campus of Amar Singh College, Srinagar.

The programme funded by National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, is one of the most acknowledged and significant summer training programmes in Mathematics for under graduate students in India, an official statement said.

“As many as 40 students from various colleges of the state participated in the programme. Selected higher secondary, college teachers and some research scholars acted as Programme observers,” the statement said.

The resource persons for the programme included Prof Kumaresan, Director MTTS programmes and Dean School of Mathematics, Central University, Hyderabad, Prof G Santhanum, IIT Kanpur and Prof AjitKumar, ICT Mumbai, Dr. Reddy from Shiv Nadir University.

Director JKIMS, Dr Wali Mohammad Shah, impressed upon the participants to share their valuable experience with their colleagues and teachers.

Prof Santhanam (IIT Kanpur) who headed the team of resource persons stressed upon the participants to develop mathematical temper in the interest of the society at large. He also appreciated role of the Department of Higher Education for establishing an Institute of Mathematical Sciences in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

While thanking MTTS core group, the participant students and teachers appreciated the efforts of the institute in organizing such programmes and thereby providing a chance to interact with distinct and reputed resource persons from various parts of the country.
