Hurriyat (m) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has stressed upon the United Nations and International Human Rights organizations to press upon India to probe the thousands of enforced disappearances cases in Kashmir and bring the truth and facts related to such cases before the public.

In connection with the International day for the enforced disappearances, Mirwaiz stated that it was the responsibility of International community and Human rights organizations to bring the truth before the people regarding nine thousand people   who were subjected to enforced disappearances by the government forces in Kashmir besides also unravelling the facts about thousands of unmarked graves dotting the Kashmiris landscape.

Reiterating the demand to unravel the reality behind the thousands of enforced disappearances and unmarked graves on this international day for the enforced disappearances, the Hurriyat (m) stated that it want to apprise international community and HR organizations that the relatives of the victims are still looking for the return of the dear ones with moist  eyes.

Expressing concern over the double standards of international community to stop the HR violations in Kashmir, Hurriyat (m) Chairman stated that Kashmir was heavily militarized and force and coercion was being employed to oppress Kashmiris to unsuccessfully prevent them from demanding right to self determination which has led to gross HR violations on daily basis. He stated that Kashmiri prisoners in jails were treated inhumanly while government forces were equipped with black laws to suppress Kashmiris.

He stated that it has become a routine affair that peaceful protesters are arrested, tortured and booked in severe cases to break the resolve of Kashmiris.  He said that it was the duty of UN as a party to the dispute, to play its role in ending the state sponsored terrorism and solve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat (m) strongly condemned the nocturnal raids in down town, ransacking houses, and harassing families terming it as a worst form of state sponsored terrorism. The spokesman stated that police conducted nocturnal raids in Nowhatta and surrounding areas to arrest the youth, adding, the family members were harassed and many parents were arrested in place of the youths.

The spokesman has demanded immediate halt to nocturnal raids and state sponsored terrorism being perpetrated by the police in old city.
