Kashmir received another spell of torrential rainfall Saturday afternoon with MeT predicting intense spell showers for another three days.
Since Saturday morning, possibility of rains looks imminent in the face of overcast sky.
Heavy rains coupled with winds blew grits of rain into residences and offices.
Reports came in from different parts of the city that heavy winds blew open window panes, letting in rain water, besides making people run for the cover.
The intense downpour also triggered water-logging in many parts of city. Severe inundation was reported outside SBI bank near Residency Road and Radio Kashmir at Rajbagh.
Reports about electricity getting snapped also came in from many parts of the old city. Massive traffic snarls were reports across several parts of the city especially at Sonwar chowk near B.B. Cant.
Met Director Sonam Lotus told Kashmir Life that monsoon was very active over the J&K state currently. He said that rainfall is likely to continue for the next two to three days but in “intense spells” like todays.
“There is no need to panic. Lot of moisture has arrived from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal that has settled over J&K state,” he said adding that there would be no relentless rainfall but heavy precipitation would occur is small bouts of 15-20 minutes.
