Covid-19: Overnight, Pandemics Throws Up Record 3733 cases, 44 Deaths

SRINAGAR: The ferocious Covid-19 disease has killed another 44 people in the last 24 hours taking the overall death toll in Jammu and Kashmir to 2421, officials’ sources said. The number of deaths and new infections is slightly more than yesterday.

As many as 28 deaths took place in Jammu and 16 in Kashmir divisions, the information revealed by the government said.

Jammu town continues to top the list of the dead for yet another consecutive day. It lost 17 citizens in the last 24 hours. Srinagar, the other capital city lost seven residents, the same number as it lost yesterday.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost two residents each in Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara and Kulgam, and one in Ganderbal.

Apart from 17 deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost four citizens in Rajouri, two each in Ramban and Poonch, and one each in Udhampur, Kathua, and Doda.

The overall death toll in Jammu and Kashmir stands at 2421 including 1440 in the Kashmir division and 981 in Jammu region.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 3733 new Covid-19 positive were reported across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 1136 – perhaps one of the highest number in a day. Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 584 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 2439 cases against 1294 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 232 from Baramulla, 208 from Budgam, 296 from Pulwama, 64 from Kupwara, 145 from Anantnag, 85 from Bandipora, 51 from Ganderbal, 167 from Kulgam, and 55 from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 86, Rajouri 111, Doda 12, Kathua 112, Samba 209, Kishtwar 9, Poonch 30, Ramban 44, and Reasi 97.

Right now, Kashmir has 22244 active positive cases and Jammu has 12323, slightly less than half of Kashmir.
