COVID-19: Jan Mohalla Bandipora Declared Micro Containment Zone

SRINAGAR: Authorities on Saturday declared Jan-Mohalla locality of Kaloosa, Nathpora in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district as a Micro Containment Zone after five positive cases of COVID-19 and one death due to the virus was reported in the area, officials said.

An official told the news agency KNO that the decision to declare the locality as a micro containment zone was taken following the detection of 05 fresh COVID-19 positive cases and also a death in Jan-Mohalla Kaloosa of estate Kaloosa Nathpora.

An order issued by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora in this regard reads that it has become imperative, in view of detection of 05 fresh COVID-19 positive cases and 01 death in Jan Mohalla Kaloosa of estate Kaloosa Nathpora Tehsil and District Bandipora, to initiate necessary measures under Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 and Disaster Management Act, 2005 for immediate prevention of the spread of the virus and for the safety and prevention any harm to human life.

“Now, therefore, in view of the above, I, Dr Owais Ahmad, 1AS, Chairperson, DDMA District Magistrate, Bandipora, vide powers conferred upon me under relevant provisions of Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005, do hereby order as under, with immediate effect, till further orders that Habitation Jan Mohalla Kaloosa of estate Kaloosa Nathpora Bandipora is declared as Micro Containment Zone for the purpose of Initiation of necessary measures for containment and further spread of CcoviD-19.”

“There shall be strict perimeter control within 100 meters of the said Micro Containment Zone.”

“Chief Medical Officer, Bandipora shall initiate vigorous and extensive contact tracing of all the fresh reported positive cases and 100% subsequent sampling of all such contacts. A sampling of service providers, co-morbid and other vulnerable shall also be ensured as per SOP.”

“Tehsildar Bandipora shall be the Nodal officer viz-a-viz providing of magisterial assistance wherever required and any other Issue of urgent nature, as may be reported in the said Micro Containment Zone,” it reads.

“SHO P/S Bandipora shall provide necessary Police assistance, wherever required.”

The order further stated that any violation of this order shall invite punitive action under Section 188 IPC and other relevant provisions of Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 the Disaster Management Act, 2005, reads the order.
