Secretary, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Tuesday took stock of people’s grievances during a day-long public grievance camp held at Banquet Hall, Srinagar.
During the day-long programme, a number of deputations and individuals from across Kashmir districts including, Srinagar, Budgam, Anantnag, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Bandipora, Kangan, Gurez among other areas met the Administrative Secretary and highlighted their issues.
Vice-Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Vikas Kundal, Chief Engineer, PHE, Chief Engineer, I&FC, officers from SMC, UEED among other senior officers were present on the occasion.
Speaking to several delegations during the camp, Sahu said Jal Jeevan Mission is being implemented throughout Jammu and Kashmir. He said that government was continuously assessing the progress on PHE projects and Irrigation and Flood Control works across all districts and all the households would get piped water.
He said that all possible efforts are being worked out to tap the available water resources to meet the requirements of drinking water.
Sahu further said that J&K Government has envisaged connecting each and every household with Piped Water Supply by December 2021 against the national target of 2024.
He said that men and machinery has been geared up who are working to achieve JJM targets within the set timelines.
Matters related to the Urban Development Department were also heard by Secretary along with other senior officers of the departments.
Nearly 105 delegations, besides scores of individuals, called on the Administrative Secretary and apprised him about various issues and matters—pertaining to their areas.
A delegation of Bhagat Colony, Tantraygund, Handwara apprised the Administrative Secretary to look into their issues. They demanded to drink water facilities for their area.
A delegation of Seer Hamdan demanded that their areas should be denotified. They also demanded drinking water facilities in their area.
A delegation of several areas of Kashmir region demanded compensation for the chunk of land they provided to the Irrigation Department. They demanded that the process should be expedited.
A delegation from Mehdi Colony, Budgam alleged that their drainage work was not done on a scientific basis. They requested that the concerned department should be directed to order a probe into the works.
Another delegation from Nussu, Poutkhah demanded water and irrigation facilities in their areas.
A delegation of PHE Joint Employees Association (PHEJEA) also called on the Administrative Secretary informing him about their service matters. They appealed him that all their issues should be addressed on priority.
A delegation from Potkhah, Baramulla demanded water and irrigation facilities in their areas.
A delegation of Contractors—working with the PHE department demanded the release of their pending bills.
During the camp, several service matter cases were also taken up. The deputations sought an early redressal from the Government.
The Administrative Secretary assured the deputations and individuals that all their issues would be looked into for redressal.
