The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg has been conferred with SKOCH Award for the project “Khidmat-e- Kupwara”, an intervention to improve the infrastructure and service delivery in health institution of the district.
The national-level award recognizes exceptional projects in the area of financial and social inclusion focusing on improving governance and ensuring effective Citizens Service Delivery.
The DDC initiated the project in April 2019 with various components including the provision of modern amenities and health equipment with thrust on maternal, child and adolescent care, adoption of best practices for patient care, coverage of all centrally sponsored schemes, capacity building and training of staff especially ASHAs.
Under the initiative, Infrastructure was up-gradated in S D H Kupwara besides providing modern amenities. Around 60 Kanals of hospital land was fenced and new 200-bed IPD Block with mechanized sanitation service completed.
Besides introducing CT facilities and six Dialysis Machines and installing Gensets for round the clock power supply for hospitals at Kupwara, Handwara and Langate towns.
Furthermore, Saturation of all 163 high and higher educational institutions with sanitary Pad Vending Machines and Incinerators has been ensured before the start of the current academic session.
The District Training Institute was accredited with National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOs) to train ASHAs as per national standards.
The District Administration is working towards DNB Certification of SDH Kupwara in three disciplines of medicine, surgery and anaesthesia and measures are underway to achieve Kayakalp and LAQSHYA standards in 10 health centres of the district.
