Police on Sunday arrested a drug peddler during a naka checking in Langate area north Kashmir’s Handwara town of district Kupwara and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
“A police party of Police Post Langate during naka checking near Khroo bridge apprehended a person, who tried to flee from the area on seeing the police party. On his personal search, 45 strips of banned medicines were recovered. The person was later identified as Nassir Ahmad son of Abdul Khaliq resident of Langate,” a police statement said.
“During the investigation, it has been found that these drugs were meant for sale among the youth of the area at exorbitant rates and make them fall in the trap of addicts,” said the statement.
“In this regard, a case FIR number 304/2018 under section 8/22 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation has been taken up,” the statement said.
