Peoples Democratic Party spokesperson Naeem Akhtar Thursday said party president Mehbooba Mufti would chair a meeting of party leaders at her residence here on January 31 to discuss “how to take the mission of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed forward in the state”.
Akhtar told CNS all party related issues will be discussed in the proposed meeting which will be attended by both top and second rung leadership.
“The basic motive of the party is to follow and accomplish the mission of late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. There will be discussion how to take his mission forward. I can’t tell you whether the subject of government formation will be taken up in the meeting but, yes, all the important issues are on the agenda and can be discussed in the meeting,” Akhtar said.
Responding to a question, Akhtar said that vacating CM residence at Wizarat Road Jammu “should not be linked to politics”. “It had become inevitable to vacate that house after the demise of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. We simply followed procedure and it should not be linked with politics,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bhartiya Janata National Party Vice-President Avinah Rai Khana said that they will wait till January 31, the day when crucial meeting of PDP will take place. “We will wait till January 31. We are not in hurry. Let PDP elect their leader with whom we can converse,” Khana said.
