Private Hospital In Peripheral Kashmir Conducts Difficult Urological Procedure

SRINAGAR: Doctors at Shopian’s privately run Shadaab Hospital has performed Laparoscopic Nephrectomy and Hendren’s excisional tapering with extra-vesical ureteral re-implantation (EVUR) following Lich-Gregoir (LG) technique for the correction of vesicoureteral Obstruction (VUO) with megaureter. This is for the first time that a privately run hospital has carried out this procedure in the remote south Kashmir district.

“The Lich-Gregoir (LG) technique for the correction of vesicoureteral Obstruction (VUO) is a popular procedure with a success rate of 97-99 per cent,” a spokesman of the hospital said. “Usually such procedures are done in super speciality setups, performing such a procedure successfully for the first time in three districts of South Kashmir and Pir Panjal has set a benchmark for others.”

The procedures were performed by a Urologist, Dr Manzoor A Dar, Anesthetist, Dr Mohsin Farooq along with their team including Abdul Qayoom, Asif Ahmad,  Sameer Ahmad, Rayees, Waseem and Ms Rifat Gulal Aijaz and Sajad. “Both procedures were covered under Ayushmann Bharat Scheme,” he said.
