SRINAGAR: A youth hailing from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district has qualified the prestigious UPSC civil services examination 2020 the results of which were announced on Friday evening.
Iqbal Rasool Dar of Jaggerpora village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, qualified the UPSC civil services examination 2020 in his third attempt by securing 611 rank. His father, Ghulam Rasool Dar is retired government employee.
This year, a total of 2,046 candidates were shortlisted for the interview. A total of 761 candidates — 545 men and 216 women — have cleared the examination. As many as 180 candidates will be shortlisted for the IAS position, 36 for IFS, 200 for IPS officers’ posts. Further 302 vacancies will be filled in central services group A and 118 in group B services.
Candidates have been selected on the basis of the main written exam held from January 8 to January 17 and the interview held from August 2 to September 22. Prior to the main written exam, a preliminary test was held in October, 2020. Candidates who had qualified the preliminary test were shortlisted for the main exam.
