Jammu HAAT Inaugrated Finally
To exhibit the richness of culture in Jammu, Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha along with Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, and DoPT inaugurated the Jammu Haat at Exhibition Grounds.
Officials said the Jammu Haat was constructed at an investment of Rs 31.63 crore and is an outcome of the long pending demand of the local craftsmen, especially the women artisans, to have a state-of-the-art exhibition venue where local crafts can be displayed and they can directly connect with the buyers. Jammu Haat, the LG said shall act as the nerve centre of Exhibition Activity of Local Art, Craft and for the sale of various Local Handicrafts, Handloom products and Small Scale Industrial products. “The inauguration of Jammu Haat is a celebration of the exquisite workmanship and tradition of the local craftsmen of the UT”, he said.
The Lt Governor noted that Jammu Haat will be a unique marketplace, in the heart of the city and will display the richness of Jammu and Kashmir’s culture. It will serve as a platform for organizing buyer-seller meets creating opportunities for enhancing local business and exports on a permanent basis by connecting local artisans with a multitude of markets.
The Haat, he said will empower the local entrepreneurs to build successful businesses by providing high-quality training programmes, advisory services and this access will help people achieve economic self-sufficiency through small business development, besides promoting local heritage and tourism. “I believe that Jammu Haat can bring about a massive change in the handicraft, handloom and local industry at the grassroots level in Jammu”, Lt Governor added.
The Lt Governor announced the extension of financial assistance to the artisans and youth who want to start their enterprise in the field of traditional crafts or any other small scale industrial unit. “There will be no limit as far as the numbers are concerned. We will reach out to every person. In the Jammu division our aim is to provide financial support to two lakh artisans and youngsters willing to start their own business,” he said.
Dr Jitendra Singh said when India is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav, 75 years of Independence, the next 25 years are going to be crucial for the nation’s growth and progress.
Tokyo Paralympics Participants
Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha honoured the Paralympics participants Rakesh Kumar and Jyoti Baliyan at the Raj Bhavan. The two Para Archers of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board’s Sports Complex participated in the recently concluded Tokyo Paralympics.
The Lt Governor, who is also Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, while congratulating the Para Archers observed that the Shrine Board’s support extended towards sports is being appreciated and it is a matter of pride that players nurtured at SMVD Sports Complex are putting Jammu & Kashmir on the world map. He lauded the efforts of the Paralympics participants and wished them success in the upcoming events.
Pertinently, Rakesh Kumar is a native of Katra and Jyoti Baliyan belongs to Uttar Pradesh but has been trained at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, Katra for the last four years. Both these archers have been trained under the guidance of Coach Kuldeep Vedwan at the Sports complex.
Rakesh started his archery journey in 2017 from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board’s Sports Complex. He won the first gold medal for his team in the World Ranking Tournament held in the Czech Republic in 2018, Ranked 10th in Asian Games 2018. Earlier, Rakesh bagged gold under Fazza Cup World Ranking Tournament held in Dubai in February 2021. Jyoti Baliyan secured 17th rank in the World Championship held in the Netherlands and won a silver medal under Fazza Cup World Ranking Tournament held in Dubai in February 2021. She is the only woman archer from the country who participated in Tokyo Paralympics.
SAATH
To empower the women, JKRLM to create over 35000 jobs in Jammu and Kashmir under programme SAATH an initiative of Jammu Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) aims to contribute towards economic empowerment, development of rural women. The scheme was launched by Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha on September 1, 2021.
Mission Director Jammu Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar said that under SAATH, the SHG women entrepreneurs of rural areas will be provided mentoring and handholding support through intensive capacity Building workshops and one to one mentoring for upscaling their business ventures nationally and internationally. She further informed that a total of 8085 applicants across Jammu and Kashmir have applied for the Program, Highest applications were received from Baramulla District in the Kashmir Division; and district Doda, from the Jammu division.
As many as 500 enterprises (244 from Jammu and 257 from Kashmir) with the highest enterprise potential have been chosen for an intensive training programme to be followed by mentoring while 5000 entrepreneurs will be exposed to various business enablement strategies including e-commerce sales, branding.
Dr Sehrish further briefed the media that 95 per cent of the applicants reported to be operating within the state while the remaining five per cent had operations nationally while as 45 per cent applicants reported that given the right support they can offer employment to over 27000 rural women in the coming one year, with an average of 7.5 potential jobs being created per rural enterprise when supported through SAATH, while the remaining 55% applicants saw a new employment generation potential of around 2 persons per enterprise taking the total employment potential over 35000 in the UT of J&K. These 8000 odd SAATH programme applicants are employing approx 12000 employees presently, she added.
Revenue Records Being Made Public
The Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta chaired a meeting to review the digitization of land records in Jammu and Kashmir and its subsequent hosting on a user-friendly portal. Principal Secretary, Revenue Department, Commissioner/ Secretary GAD, CEO JaKeGA, and scientists from CDAC participated in the meeting.
It was informed that the IT Department has upgraded its storage capacity to host complete revenue records in the public domain.
The Chief Secretary asked CDAC to suitably upgrade the capacity of its servers in the next 15 days to enable public access to revenue records including mutation, jamabandi, girdawari, and masssavi documents.
Further, the Revenue Department was asked to develop a user-friendly interface by October 15, 2021, to enable hassle-free public access to various revenue documents.
