SRINAGAR: An encounter has started between the militants and a joint posse of police and army in north Kashmir’s Bandipore district.

The area where the encounter started was identified by police as Chandaji area. A spokesman told reporters that the militants hiding in the area attempted an escape but the area being in a siege did not permit it. This led to the encounter.
