SRINAGAR: There was a slight respite from cold wave conditions in Kashmir as the minimum temperature rose marginally across several places in the Valley.
“Light snowfall in higher reaches and rain occurred in plains of J&K during the last 24 hours. Weather is likely to improve from today afternoon as we do not expect any major snowfall/rain till December 31,” an official of the MeT department said.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, registered 0.6 degrees Celsius compared to minus 5.2 degree Celsius the previous night, an official of the MeT Department here said.
The ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, a star attraction for tourists visiting the Valley during winter, recorded a low of minus 6.5 degrees Celsius while Pahalgam which serves as the base camp for the annual Amarnath yatra during summer recorded a low of minus 1.3 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered the minimum of minus 0.5 degrees Celsius, the official said.
Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 1.5 degrees Celsius while Qazigund in south Kashmir registered a low of minus 0.3 degrees Celsius last night.
Jammu city had 6.4 degrees Celsius, Katra 4.0, Batote minus 1.7, Bannihal minus 0.2 and Bhaderwah minus 0.2 as the night’s lowest temperature.
