Thanking people of Karnah valley for their support to Er Rasheed led AIP in the recently concluded parliamentary elections, AIP president and former MLA Langate Er Rasheed on Monday said that people of Karnah have chosen their fate with AIP in order to join a sincere and sustainable movement that can shape the dreams of masses in the entire state.
Addressing around a dozen public meetings at Tangdar, Jarda, Dildar, Tetwal, Seemari and other places today Rasheed said that people of Karnah have shown the way that how the vote can be used as an agent of change.
“Not only that, Karnah residents have rejected those forces who always encourage and create an ethnic and regional divide in the society but have shown the way how to rise to the occasion and follow voice of conscience. Rasheed cautioned government not to take people of far-flung areas like Karnah, Gurez and Uri for granted and said that lack of communication and connectivity has made the lives of residents of the border and far-flung areas worse than hell,” the spokesman quoted Er Rasheed as saying.
Rasheed announced a seventy-two hour-long sit-in outside civil secretariat against the failure of the government to provide tunnel at Sadhna Top and Gurez. He said that he will have a peaceful sit-in starting from 8th July to draw the attention of state and central governments against the burning issue of providing a tunnel for Karnah and Gurez. Rasheed urged administration including employee working in government departments in Karnah valley to always keep in their minds the sufferings of people of border areas as they have the least access to the higher authorities and their genuine voices often go unheard.
Rasheed also expressed grief and shock over Kishtawar traffic accident and said that the tragedy has exposed the tall claims of the government about providing connectivity to hilly and remote areas. He said that successive governments have done nothing to build road infrastructure in remote areas like Karnah, Uri, Chenab valley and Pir Panchal regions, as such frequent accidents take place resulting in loss of lives from Surankote to Kishtawar.
