KCCI delegation meets J&K Bank Chairman

A delegation of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by the President Sheikh Ashiq Ahmed held an interaction with R K Chibber, Chairman/CEO and other senior officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited at Corporate Headquarters, Srinagar.

According to a statement, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad highlighted various banking issues related to the business community and the same were discussed in detail.

“Among the issues discussed were the reports about the merger of the Bank, status of restructured accounts, proper marketing of the FOREX Card of the J&K Bank, need for support to our Horticulture Sector, problems faced by artisans on account of the Artisan Credit Card Loan scheme, specialized products for Global promotion of Tourism through J&K Bank Branches, supporting products for Tour and Travel operators, working capital stress on the General Trade Sector etc,” the statement read.

The Chairman stated that the RBI had clarified about the news reports regarding the merger of the bank. He welcomed the suggestion about promotion of the tourism sector through various branches of the Bank and said that the idea of providing customized products for its employees and clients would be further explored.

R K Chibber stated that the J&K Bank was already functioning as ambassadors for the tourism sector and said that the Hon’ble Governor Mr. Satya Pal Malik had also focused on tourism promotion during the recent opening of a branch of the J&K Bank at Shirdhi, Maharashtra.

Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad stated that there was a dire need for regular interaction between the Bank and the KCC&I so that issues could be addressed in a regular and structured manner. Sheikh Ashiq Ahmed said that although the Bank had constituted a Joint Advisory Committee with the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, no formal meeting was held. As a result, a communication gap had been created which needed to be corrected, said the statement.

R K Chibber stated that the Bank was fully conscious about the conditions prevailing in the State and assured the members of the delegation that the J&K Bank was always ready to support genuine cases and extend all support in this regard. He reiterated that explicit instructions had been conveyed to all branch heads to address the grievances of the account holders in a sensitive manner. He instructed to have regular meetings and Joint Advisory committee, said KCCI statement.
