Ajas shuts to remember 1992 firing victims

Srinagar

A complete shutdown was being observed in Ajas village of Bandipora district on Thursday to mark the 26th death anniversary of those killed in 1992 force’s firing.

All shops and business establishments are closed while as very thin traffic is plying on roads.

Four people were killed and 13 others were injured on 1 Feb 1992 after the soldiers of BSF allegedly opened fire on them.

Four people according to local sources who were killed included an 18-year-old student, Muhammad Maqbool Rather, Abdul Rashid Ganie, a driver Abdul Rahim Rather, 32, a labourer and Muhammad Sultan Lone, 40, a labourer

An FIR stands registered about the incident but even after the expiry of 25 long years, justice still eludes to the families of the victims who claimed that not a single BSF man was censored or taken to task by the authorities.
