Encounter in Sopore’s Krankshivan Belt

SRINAGAR

A gunfight is raging between militants and a joint posse police and soldiers in Sopore’s Krankshivan area. No casualties are reported so far.

Reports said the encounter started on basis of inputs about militants hiding in the area at around 5 PM. Those laying siege of the belt include security men from 52 RR, 22 RR, CRPF and SOG. Civilians have fled to the safer areas as public address system was used to suggest besieged militants for surrender. Exchange of fire is going on, reports said.

Reports claim that security men have clear inputs about the presence of at least two militants who actually attempted to break the cordon and flee. Situation is explosive.
