39 villages sanctioned backward status

State Cabinet which met here as the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on chair Thursday, accepted the recommendations of the State Backward Commission and sanctioned the backward status to 39 villages of the state, official sources said.


They added that the State Backward Commission had submitted its recommendations to the government some time back and they were discussed thread bear during the cabinet meeting.


“Finally the cabinet sanctioned the backward status of 39 villages. They included 8 villages of Jammu, 1 of Doda, 9 of Samba, 3 of Poonch, 9 of Rajouri, 3 of Islamabad, I of Bandipora and 4 of Ganderbal districts.


The cabinet also created three positions of Additional Principal Conservator, official sources said.
