Scrapping FAA List Is Collective Punishment: Tarigami

SRINAGAR: CPI (M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami Thursday voiced deep concern over the plight of protesting Finance Accounts Assistant (FAA)  aspirants.

In a statement Tarigami said that scores of candidates, who have qualified the FAA exam, have hit the streets, fearing that the government may cancel the entire recruitment process.

“The recent order of the government to investigate the selection process for the position of FAA has heightened the worries of these aspirants,” he said in a statement.

He added that any credible probe into the recruitment process is welcome and well accepted, but scrapping the entire process sans reason and is tantamount to collective punishment.

“It will also put paid to the dreams of hundreds of job aspirants,” he said.

Tarigami said the government must identify and punish those who may have resorted to unfair means.

“It must also take immediate steps to restore the faith of job aspirants in the government recruitment agencies. The recent reports of irregularities have dented the image of these agencies,” he said.

Tarigami also wrote a letter to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in this regard.
