Speedy Bus Mows Down Elderly Beacon Labourer In North Kashmir

SRINAGAR: A 50-year-old beacon labourer died on spot after he was ran over by a speedy passenger bus in Bramri in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday morning, reports and officials said.

A Beacon Incharge told GNS that a group of labourers was erecting a signal board along highway in Bramri, adding, during the course of time an overspeeding passenger bus fatally hit a labourer resulting in his on spot death.

Another labourer also received minor injuries in the incident, the Beacon Incharge said.

Meanwhile confirming the incident a police official identified the deceased as Ghulam Mohuiddin Shiekh, 50, son of Abdul Khaliq Shiekh, a resident of Kralpora.

A case under relevant sections has been registered in this regard and further investigations are underway, the official added. (GNS)
