NIA Raids Continue In Kashmir For Second Day

SRINAGAR: Six non-profits and trust and nine places, including the property of former Delhi Minority Commission chief Zafarul-Islam Khan have been raided by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a funding case.

The NIA on Thursday raided the office of trust Falah-e-Aam in Nowgam, sources said. “6 NGOs and trusts where NIA is conducting raids across nine locations in Delhi and Srinagar are Falah-e-Aam Trust, Charity Alliance, Human Welfare Foundation, JK Yateem Foundation, Salvation Movement and J&K Voice of Victims (JKVoV),” news agency ANI reported.

The two NGOs Charity Alliance and Human Welfare Foundation are based in Delhi, while the rest are based in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar.

The NIA on Wednesday searched 10 locations in Kashmir and one in Bangalore in connection with terror funding case. Several incriminating documents and electronic devices were seized, the NIA said in a statement.

Those whose premises were searched include Khurram Parvez (coordinator of the J&K Coalition of Civil Society), his associates Parvez Ahmad Bukhari, Parvez Ahmad Matta and Bangalore-based associate Swati Sheshadri as well as Parveena Ahanger, chairperson of the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP).

The offices of the NGO Athrout and GK Trust were also searched, the statement added.

“NIA conducted searches at 10 locations in Srinagar and Bandipora and one location in Bangalore in connection with a case pertaining to certain so-called NGOs and Trusts raising funds in India and abroad in the name of charitable activities and then using those funds for carrying out secessionist and separatist activities in J&K,” the agency said.
