Coronavirus: 221 Complete Quarantine, Go Home

SRINAGAR: Authorities on Wednesday sent 221 persons home after they completed their 14-day mandatory quarantine. They all had flown from far off destinations, some of which had reported the presence of the viral infection, Additional DC Srinagar, Syed Hanief Bulkhi said.

Those who went home included 56 persons from the Silver Star Hotel, 22 from the EDI, Pampore, 48 from the Civil Services Institute, Paraypora, and 24 from Hotel Adhan.

This is the second batch of travellers who were quarantined soon after their arrival at the Srinagar airport. Under the WHO guidelines, people who move from Covid-19 impacted places must stay away to quarantine for not less than 14 days. These people have been asked to stay at home quatrain for the time being. On Tuesday, a batch of 78 individuals was sent home amongst claps by the cops and the civil administration as they boarded the buses read to drop at their residences.

Bulkhi said almost sixty per cent of those who went home from quarantine were female. Most of them were students who had flown from Bangladesh, Romania, Thailand, and various central Asian countries. “They were from all the districts across Kashmir and we have driven them home,” Bulkhi said. “Right now we are in the process of finalising the details of 242 other travellers who will complete the mandatory 14-days quarantine on Thursday, April 2.”
