A 50 year old man set himself ablaze in Shopian while a lady attempted to commit suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Islamabad, police said Wednesday afternoon.
“A 50 year old man Bashir Ahmad Reshi son of Ghulam Ahmad Reshi resident of Zainapora, Shopian set himself ablaze. He was shifted to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar for treatment where doctors declared him brought dead,” the police statement said.
Police have registered a case FIR number 70/15 under section 309 RPC in this regard. After completing medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
The statement further said that in an attempt to end her life, a lady (name withheld) resident of Manzigam, Ashmuqam consumed some poisonous substance at her home. She was shifted to District Hospital Islamabad for treatment wherefrom she was referred to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar for further treatment.
