SRINAGAR

Despite repeated assurances by the authorities there is no improvement in mobile and internet services in the Kashmir valley causing immense inconvenience to the people.

The Kashmir Valley was cut off from the rest of the world following devastating floods. Mobile phone and other services were affected due to floods which have badly hit telecom infrastructure in Kashmir.

Various telecom operators in the Valley have also said that free talk-time facility would be given to the people for a week. “For whole day I could make only three phone calls. The network was busy or the call was not connected,” said a mobile user of Batamaloo area.

“The faulty mobile network has added to our miseries,” he added.

The residents of north and south Kashmir said that though there was network from last night, but there is no connectivity. “We are not able to make calls or surf internet,” said the mobile users.

Meanwhile, Srinagar-Islamabad highway is badly damaged and there is no connectivity from the highway and the drivers are using alternative routes.
