J&K Police Files Chargesheet Under UAPA Against Waheed Para

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir police Tuesday filed a charge sheet against Peoples Democratic Party Youth Wing President Waheed Para in a case related to militancy nexus.

As per reports emerging in the media, the charge sheet against Parra has been filed under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

Parra continues to be in jail ever since Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) arrested him soon after being released on bail by the National Investigation Agency court.

Outdoor Bazaars and Shopping Complexes In Sgr To Be Open Only On Monday and Thursday

SRINAGAR: The Srinagar district administration has only allowed the opening of shops on a rotation basis on Monday and Thursday in a week.

As per the order issued by the District Magistrate Srinagar, standalone shops of all types shall be allowed to open only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The order states the outdoor Bazaars and Outdoor Shopping complexes shall be allowed to operate only on Mondays and Thursdays, starting from Monday, May 31, 2021, in the following manner:

Markets having Shops on both sides of the Road: Shops on one side of the road only shall open on a particular day/date, the other side shall remain closed completely, the sequence of opening shall be on a Rotation basis.

Markets having shops on one side of the Road only: Odd-numbered shops to open on Mondays, even-numbered shops to open on Thursdays (Joint Commissioner Administration, SMC to ensure proper numbering of shops wherever required.

Shopping complexes/ equivalent business establishment: only alternate shops shall open on a rotation basis.

Indoor shopping malls; 25 per cent of shops inside the malls shall be allowed to operate on a given day. Owner/Manager of the mall shall carry outnumbering of the shops and accordingly come up with the roaster of operating within the allowed capacity and submit the same with DDMA, Srinagar for issuance of orders for opening.

Barbershops/Saloon/Beauty parlors shall be allowed to open only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Restaurants shall be allowed to open on all days (except on Saturdays & Sundays) only for Home delivery of orders and room service of residents. No entry of customers shall be permitted even for self take-away of orders.

Sportspersons shall be allowed to resume their training and activities in outdoor sports-stadia/ground. However indoor sports activities shall not be allowed. ix. Public transport (Matadors/Minibusses/Buses/Taxies and Cabs etc.) shall be permitted to ply only at 50 per cent of authorized seating capacity.

Hailstorm Wrecks Havoc In Handwara, Other Parts Of Kashmir

SRINAGAR:  A hailstorm wreaked havoc in parts of Kashmir Valley including northern Kupwara district’s Handwara, damaging orchards and standing crops on Tuesday.

Reports reaching said that the hailstorm started at around 2:43 p.m. in Mawer Qalamabad Handwara’s Lawoosa, Yahama, Mawer Bala, Sanzipora, Qalamabad, Audoora, Chontipora and Drangsoo shahnagri Villages. It lasted for about 10 minutes, causing an extensive damage to orchards including apple, almond, walnut and cherry besides standing crops, vegetables and paddy saplings.

The hailstorm also devastated orchards and other standing crops in Ramhal area hamlets including in Harduna, Lillam, Kuneal, Dharael and Tarathpora.

A senior Horticulture official told that as per preliminary assessment, the hailstorm resulted in damage to nearly substantial percent of the expected production across over a dozen hamlets in Handwara and its adjacent areas.

Meanwhile people especially orchardists were seen consoling each other on the loss to expected production. “We have lost our major source of income”, an orchardist said.

“The hailstorm has dashed our hopes amid this pandemic, what we will do now”, the grieving orchardist said.

Similar scenes were witnessed at many other affected places in the area.

A group of affected orchardists urged the government to carry assessment of the damage caused and accordingly devise some relief plan to compensate them.

It is pertinent to mention here that a hailstorm of similar magnitude on May 6, as reported, dealt a severe blow to the orchards and standing crops in several areas in Handwara.

Meanwhile, hailstorm and loss caused by it was also reported from parts of Srinagar, especially on its eastern side, and other various districts. (GNS)

366 Bags of Illicitly Ferried Rice Seized from FCI Trucks in Pattan; Truckers Apprehended

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla on Tuesday said to have recovered three-hundred sixty-six bags of illicitly ferried rice from two FCI trucks in Pattan along Srinagar-Kupwara highway. Both the accused truckers were apprehended on the spot.

The district police Baramulla in a bulletin issued to said that on receipt of specific information on May 31, an action undertaken under the supervision of Zaffar Mehdi, SDPO Pattan seized 366 bags of rice laden in two trucks bearing registration numbers JK-02V 6397 and JK-09 3233 driven by Mohammad Jamal Hajam resident of Madmadow Kalaroos Kupwara and Jahangir Ahmad Bhat resident of Bumhama Kupwara respectively at a naka established at Hanjiwera Pattan.

As per the chalan, the rice has been loaded from FCI Godown Kralhar in Baramulla and was meant to be transported to Kulangam Kupwara, however instead of taking the rice to the intended place (Kulangam, Kupwara) the trucks were on way to Srinagar for black marketing of (now seized) rice, it said.

Meanwhile a police official told that a case vide FIR number 152/2021 stands registered in Police Station Pattan under relevant sections of law. (GNS)

RT-PCR Test Capped At Rs 400 in Private Labs in J&K

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir government has capped the RT-PCR tests by private labs at Rs 400 including all the taxes and charges.

As per an order issued by the Health and Medical Education Department, the private laboratories and hospitals would not be able to charge more than Rs 400.

Around Dozen Medical Shops Sealed In Soura After Owners, Salesmen Found Unvaccinated

SRINAGAR: Around a dozen medical shops were on Tuesday sealed outside the SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) and other localities in Soura after the owners and two salesmen were found unvaccinated.

Officials informed that a special drive was launched by Tehsildar Eidgah, Ishfaq Khan today to check whether all medical shops’ owners and salesmen have been vaccinated.

Khan told that soon after launching the drive from Soura hospital to Nowshera, around a dozen medical shop owners and salesmen were found unvaccinated, following which the shops were sealed.

“Some of the owners were also fined for violating the norms. Vaccination certificate is mandatory for everyone to run the shops. We won’t allow anyone to operate without getting vaccinated,” he said.

He added that such drives will continue in the future, and they will ensure that SOPs are followed in letter and spirit—(KNO)

Cash Recovered From Temporary Shelter Of Homeless Woman In Rajouri: Officials

SRINAGAR: The authorities on Tuesday morning recovered a huge amount of cash including currency notes and coins from temporary shelter of a homeless woman in Nowshera town of Rajouri district.

Officials told that on Monday a team of municipal committee and tehsil administration was sent to the temporary shelter of the homeless woman to pack his belongings in order to shift her to some government shelter.

They said that the woman was later taken to a government destitute center in Rajouri town.

Officials said that on Tuesday, a team was deputed to the temporary shelter of the woman where besides other belongings, three plastic vegetables packing boxes and one jute bag were found.

They said that boxes were kept hidden inside the shelter and during search, currency notes and coins of different denominations were recovered.

They said that the currency has been taken into possession by the tehsil administration—(KNO)
