SRINAGAR: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially revealed the highly anticipated schedule for the upcoming T20 World Cup, generating immense excitement among cricket enthusiasts worldwide. The marquee event, co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States, is set to kick off on June 1, featuring a clash between traditional rivals India and Pakistan on June 9 at the newly inaugurated Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in Long Island, New York.
In a strategic move, the ICC has expanded the tournament’s scope to include 20 teams, a notable increase from the 16-team format in the 2022 edition held in Australia. This expansion promises a more extensive and competitive showcase of T20 cricket talent.
India, positioned in Group A, will face opponents in the form of Ireland, Pakistan, Canada, and the host nation, the USA. Cricket aficionados can mark their calendars for key matches, including India’s opening encounter against Ireland on June 5 and the highly anticipated clash against arch-rival Pakistan on June 9. Subsequent matchups against Canada and the USA on June 12 and June 15 add to the narrative.
The T20 World Cup action will unfold across nine different venues, encompassing six locations in the West Indies (Kensington Oval, Barbados; Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad; Providence Stadium, Guyana; Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua; Darren Sammy Cricket Ground, St Lucia; Arnos Vale Stadium, St Vincent) and three venues in the USA (Eisenhower Park, New York; Lauderhill, Florida; and Grand Prairie, Texas).
