Day 8: 15 flights with 1603 passengers land at Jammu, Srinagar airports

On Day 8 of resumption of operation of domestic flights in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, 15 flights with 1603 passengers on board today arrived at Jammu and Srinagar Airports.

A total of 352 passengers aboard 6 regular commercial flights arrived at the Jammu Airport while 9 flights with about 1251 passengers on board landed at Srinagar Airport today.

After arrival, all the passengers were tested for the COVID-19 virus and transported to their destinations at both the airports amid strict observance of all necessary preventive protocols.

The Government has made elaborate arrangements for the arrival, screening, sampling and proper transportation of the passengers to the quarantine centers taking special care of guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) prescribed by the Union Ministries of Civil Aviation and Health and Family Welfare.

RTPCR test, 14 day administrative quarantine mandatory for all inbound travellers

The Government has appealed all the people travelling by road, rail and air to strictly observe the necessary preventive protocols for containing the spread of COVID 19 pandemic. Violation of the instructions will attract penalties under the Disaster Management Act-2005 and other provisions of law, a communiqué issued here by the Government said today.

All passengers/returnees coming from outside to the UT of J&K, whether by road, rail or air will have to compulsorily undergo a COVID-19 test following which they will be under administrative quarantine for 14 days. If the test result is negative, they will be released for Home Quarantine and if the test result comes positive, they will be sent to a COVID hospital for recovery and treatment.

However certain categories of incoming passengers are exempted from mandatory administrative quarantine of 14 days. They would be sampled on arrival for RTPCR testing and sent to home quarantine for 14 days. If the test results are positive, they will be brought to a COVID hospital for recovery and treatment.

These exempted categories include pregnant women in last trimester with Doctor’s certificate of pregnancy, Cancer patients on chemotherapy, chronically ill patients discharged from a hospital after a surgical procedure, dialysis patients with Doctor’s certificate of being on dialysis, mothers with infants below 1 year, children below the age of 10 years travelling alone without a family member, Government of India personnel on bonafide Government duty and passengers travelling with an RTPCR test negative certificate from an ICMR approved laboratory/testing facility, not older than two days(48 hours) before the arrival date.

Armed Forces and CAPF personnel returning to join their duties in the UT are also exempted from testing and are sent to their respective battalions/units after their arrival.

Travellers from a Red district to an Orange district within the UT of Jammu and Kashmir will also have to compulsorily undergo a COVID-19 test following which they will be under administrative quarantine, for 14 days. If tested negative, they will go to Home Quarantine and if tested positive, sent to a COVID hospital for recovery and treatment.

Coronavirus: Nine Pregnant Women, Doctor Among 155 More Test Positive, Tally Reaches 2601

Srinagar 

The Government on Monday informed that 155 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), 99 from Jammu division and 56 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2601. Also, 03 COVID-19 deaths, 01 from Jammu division and 02 from Kashmir division have been reported.

Moreover, 19 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 11 from Jammu Division and 08 from Kashmir Division.

Dr Salim Khan Nodal Officer COVID-19 at GMC Srinagar said 33 persons including nine pregnant women and a doctor have been tested positive at CD hospital laboratory.

According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 2601 positive cases, 1624 are Active Positive, 946 have recovered and 31 have died; 04 in Jammu division and 27 in Kashmir division.

The Bulletin further said that out of 176309 test results available, 173708 samples have been tested as negative till June 1, 2020.

Additionally, till date 176805 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 38276 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 38 in Hospital Quarantine, 1624 in hospital isolation and 48964 under home surveillance. Besides, 87872 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Bandipora has 146 positive cases with 11 Active Positive, 134 recovered, 01 death; Srinagar has 290 positive cases (including 10 cases reported today) with 142 Active Positive, 141 recovered, 07 deaths; Anantnag district has 350 positive cases (including 12 cases reported today), with 221 Active Positive, 124 recovered (including 02 cases recovered today), 05 deaths; Baramulla has 238 positive cases (including 06 cases reported today) with 130 Active Positive, 103 recovered, 05 deaths; Shopian has 175 positive cases (including 05 cases reported today) with 64 Active Positive, 108 recovered and 03 death; Kupwara has 279 positive cases (including 11 cases reported today) with 204 Active Positive, 75 recovered; Budgam has 110 positive cases, with 47 Active Positive and 61 recovered cases and 02 deaths; Ganderbal has 34 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 10 Active cases and 24 recoveries; Kulgam has 300 positive cases (including 06 cases reported today), with 264 Active Positive and 32 recoveries (including 06 cases recovered today) and 04 deaths and Pulwama reported 77 positive cases (including 04 cases reported today) with 64 active positive and 13 recovered.

Similarly, Jammu has 144 positive cases (including 08 cases reported today) with 101 active positive cases and 41 recoveries (including 02 cases recovered today) and 02 deaths; Udhampur has 67 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 40 active positive cases, 26 recovered (including 01 case recovered today) and 01 death; Samba has 44 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 31 Active Positive and 13 recoveries (including 02 cases recovered today); Rajouri has 33 positive cases (including 03 cases reported today) with 28 active positive cases and 05 recovered; Kathua has 78 positive cases (including 05 cases reported today) with 53 Active positive and 25 recovered (including 05 cases recovered today); Kishtwar has 12 positive cases (including 04 cases reported today) with 11 active positive cases and 01 recovered; Ramban has 144 positive cases (including 53 cases reported today) with 128 active positive and 16 recoveries (including 01 case recovered today); Reasi has 14 positive cases with 11 active positive and 03 recovered, Poonch has 40 active positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) while Doda has 26 positive cases (including 21 cases reported today) with 24 active positive case, 01 recovered and 01 death.

According to the bulletin, of the total 2601 positive cases in the UT of J&K 1186 have been reported as travelers.

The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.

The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metre from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.

As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.

The bulletin again explained that early detection of COVID-19 can prevent the spread of disease so we need to be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us. “Not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice”.

Advisory has further exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent handwashing with soap and water.”

In case of any emergency people can avail free ambulance services 24×7 at their doorsteps by calling on toll-free number 108 while as pregnant women and sick infants can avail free ambulance services by dialling toll-free number 102.

People can also call on toll-free national helpline number 1075; J&K COVID-19 Helpline Numbers 0191- 2549676 (UT level Cell), 0191-2520982, 0191-2674444, 0191-2674115 (For Jammu Division), 0194-2440283 & 0194-2430581 (For Kashmir Division) for support, guidance, and response to health-related queries on Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

Public is advised to strictly follow the advisories issued by the government from time to time and rely only on the information released by the government through the daily media bulletin to print and electronic media.

People are also advised to refrain from spreading rumours and pay no heed to them at the same time.

COVID-19 Sampling For Media Person, Others Held At Shopian

SRINAGAR: The District Administration Shopian in collaboration with District Health Services Shopian organized a covid-19 sampling programme for journalists working in district Shopian, here at Government Girls Higher Secondary School.  Better arrangements were put in place for collecting the samples.

Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Choudhary Mohammad Yasin, said that the initiative has been taken for the safety of the journalists who are working on frontline in this pandemic, by creating awareness among the people through print and electronic media, as reporting on Covid 19 is challenging task. He said that Journalists are required to leave their home and work in difficult circumstances. He said that journalists may be more vulnerable to contracting Covid19, and advised them to implement set of safety guidelines issued by WHO. He also said the administration is sure that the journalists will work with zeal and dedication so that the masses will get better awareness about the do’s and dont’s of the pandemic.

Some Samples of pregnant ladies and Shopkeepers have also been collected for the COVID 19 in the said Organized camp.

On the occasion, journalists thanked the district administration for organizing the safety measures for them and assured that they will work shoulder to shoulder with the Administration.

COVID-19: Summer Vacation Of HC, District And Subordinate Courts Cancelled

SRINAGAR: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, in view of prevailing circumstances arising out of COVID-19 pandemic and its adverse impact on the functioning of Judicial entities, has cancelled its ensuing summer vacation, scheduled to be commenced from 8th June 2020. Besides, the routine fifteen-day summer vacation in District and Subordinate Courts located in summer zone of Jammu division shall not be observed this year.

The order, issued in this regard by the J&K High Court, stated that the summer vacation shown in the High Court calendar for the year 2020 from 8th to 26th June, 2020 (both days inclusive), shall be the working days in the High Court except the gazetted holiday on 18th June 2020 and Saturday 13th and 27th June 2020.

“Considering the severe hardships faced by the litigants in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh due to the impeded functioning of the Courts on account of lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it would be highly inappropriate and un-justified to proceed with the ensuing summer vacation in the High Court of J&K and Subordinate Courts in Jammu division.” the order explained further.

Senior Congress Leader P Namgyal Is No More

SRINAGAR: Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P Namgyal passed away. He breathed his last at his residence in Leh district of Ladakh division, party sources said. Namgyal was 87 and was unwell from few months.

According to party sources, he was elected Member of Parliament from Ladakh three-times.

P Namgyal remained Union minister of State Surface Transport and Parliamentary Affairs from Feb. 1988-July 1989 and Union Minister of State, Chemical and Petrochemical and  Parliamentary Affairs July 1989-Dec. 1989.

Meanwhile, All India Congress Committee (AICC) expressed profound grief over the passing away of former Union Minister and Party Veteran P. Namgyal and conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family

In a statement, AICC President Sonia Gandhi has expressed anguish over the demise of Party Veteran P. Namgyal and conveyed deepest condolences to family, relatives and friends of the departed soul.

AICC President expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad, General Secretary AICC and other senior leaders condoled the demise of Former Union Minister & Senior Party Colleague P. Namgyal.

They described the deceased as a man of commitment, who always remained committed to the cause of strengthening people of Ladakh, the statement said.

The Leaders conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family, expressed solidarity with them and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul, said the statement.

DSEK asked to ensure safety measures as authorities planning to reopen schools from mid-June

SRINAGAR: Authorities intends to reopen all the schools in Jammu and Kashmir from mid-June and has asked the education department to ensure safety measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.

As per the letter issued written by Director Finance, School Education Department to the director school education Kashmir and Jammu division asking them to issue necessary instructions to the heads of all government schools to provide all necessary item to the students in schools.

“Students should be provided a pair of reusable masks and a pair of gloves and ensure availability of one thousand ml bulk hand sanitizers and 1200 ml liquid soap with disperser at every point in each government school,” reads a letter.

“Expenditure on this account shall be debited to Samagra Grants released to all institutions for day to day Educational institutions in Kashmir were closed on March 9, 2020, two weeks ahead of the nation-wide lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
